Hello!

Hello. My name is Melanie. I live in the United States of America (USA). My home is in the state of Nebraska which is in the middle of the country. I have a university degree in English (literature, grammar, writing) and secondary education (which means middle and high school). I substitute taught at public schools with all ages for many years. I am a patient teacher who really is interested in what the students want to learn and what will best help students to achieve their goals. I welcome feedback and student suggestions. I understand that learning a new language is exciting but also comes with challenges and there is nothing quite like speaking to a native speaker. In High School I took a trip to Germany with other students and lived with a host family for a few weeks. I had studied German for 4 years before the trip. The experience helped me fully understand the differences between learning a language in a classroom and using it in the real world. In college I took 2 semesters of Spanish. These experiences gave me an understanding of what it's like to learn a new language. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and help you explore the English language further.

I live in the USA in the state of Nebraska which is in the Midwest. I am married with 2 children, 4 pet cats and 2 pet gerbils. I was born in California but moved with my parents when I was 3 years old so I definitely have a Midwest Nebraska accent. When I was in High School I took a trip with a High School group to Germany and stayed with a host family for 3 weeks. Also, while I was in High School a host student from Slovakia stayed with my family for one school year. She is still a dear friend. I enjoy reading, writing short stories and fiction, listening to music, watching movies and series, and spending time with family and friends.
