Kayla
Hello!
I have been a teacher and tutor for 7 years, 5 of those teaching English abroad and online. Currently I am teaching French in the US. I've taught English to learners of varying ages and levels, from teenagers to adults and beginners to advanced/business. I am a very patient person, so it's easy for me to work with beginners. For more advanced learners, I am working on a masters in teaching English, so I can help with things like academic writing. I've been very fortunate to have traveled to several different countries and have met wonderful people everywhere I went. I can't wait to connect with new learners on Cambly. Please note that while I am comfortable teaching students at all English levels, I do not have experience teaching children under the age of 12.
I knew I wanted to be a teacher when I was in college (=university). I volunteered to tutor children who had recently arrived in the US -- help them with their homework, read books, help them study. It quickly became my favorite part of the week. Even today my favorite part of teaching is when something "clicks" for my students.

Teaching Style
Linguists have found that to learn a language it is important to speak it more, not to speak it "better". So I want to hear what you have to say! I try not to interrupt anyone while they are speaking. I will note down any mistakes to discuss later. I am a grammar nerd, so I love to pick apart a sentence -- just not while you're in the middle of a story! I invite students to bring their own topic of interest/questions to a conversation. I also have some general topics/questions ready to get a conversation started.
