Hello!
Hi, My name is Michael. I am South African. I am a Native English speaker from Johannesburg, South Africa to be more specific. I have lived in South Africa for most of my life but have also lived in Mozambique, Malawi and Vietnam. About my qualifications. I have a Marketing Management Diploma from Damelin college in Johannesburg, I also have a Degree in Management Accounting from UNISA which is the university of South Africa and a 120 hour Tesol certificate. I have experience working in the technical field training technicians, helpdesk personnel, software development personnel and IT. I have also run my own companies in the past in various different fields namely construction, health and safety and fibre optics. My English teaching career started at the beginning of 2019 when I moved to Vietnam and have been teaching English as a second language to students across Vietnam for almost 3 years. I have taught as a volunteer teacher, as a teacher at public schools, at English language schools, English business campuses as well as online. I have about 4 years of teaching experience all of which has been in Vietnam. I have taught from 3 to 60 years of age. Before I started teaching in Vietnam I worked in a couple of different fields namely – Vehicle tracking, IT, Fibre optics as well as construction. In all of the fields that I have worked I always ended up doing training for new and old employees. This is one of the reasons why I got into teaching as I really enjoy helping others to succeed in whatever field it may be.

Teaching Style
In my opinion, individual approach is the key. I prefer to use a variety of teaching styles in my classes. Whether I lecture or coach really depends on the children and their learning abilities, as well as the subject we cover, and other circumstances, such as the number of students in the classroom. The goal is always to keep the engagement and motivation high, and to make sure that we progress with all students. In my last teaching job I achieved great results with action based and game based learning, but it doesn’t mean that I will stubbornly stick to it here. I can assure you that I am ready to apply different teaching styles in my lessons, in order to achieve the best possible results with the students.
