Professional English Grammar Coach & Applied Linguistics Scholar | IELTS & Cambridge preparation. Dedicated to helping ambitious learners master the nuances of speaking and writing English with precision and confidence, I am a qualified FE (Further Education) teacher in the UK. I studied English Language and Applied Linguistics at university, and I have always had a keen interest in grammar and in learning languages myself. In addition, I have a level-5 Ofqual certified qualification in the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language and level-7 certifications in SEN Teaching, Literacy Teaching, and Online Teaching and Course Evaluation. I specialise in teaching IELTS, and I completed both the Oxford and British Council courses in coaching IELTS. I am also experienced in teaching for the Cambridge exams, and I have relevant and up-to-date resources for both of these. At work, I teach functional skills: grammar and writing skills, as well as A-level English language to adults and school leavers. I also frequently enjoy providing job interview coaching and assistance here on Cambly. One of the many reasons I love teaching English as a foreign language is because it enables me to meet people from such diverse backgrounds. I believe motivation and enjoyment are key to learning.

I have always been gifted in languages and grammar and was top at these subjects in school. I work as an English language A-level and functional skills teacher in the UK FE sector, and as a proofreader and copy editor. I have been teaching English for over twenty years, and I love meeting new people of all ages and nationalities. If I have spare time away from the books, I can be found hiking outdoors with my dogs.
