Hello! My name is Douglas. I'm a native English speaker from the United States. I am currently living in the State of Georgia. I've been married for over 30 years and have two children. For over 20 years I owned and operated a signage and graphic design business in the United States. In 2007 I sold my business and moved to Ecuador (South America) where I lived with my family for over 14 years. I have been studying and speaking Spanish for over 20 years and understand the challenges one faces when learning a new language. I'm also a certified TEFL instructor. I really enjoy meeting people from different cultures and languages, and I especially enjoy helping students reach their English-speaking goals and seeing their progress. I look forward to meeting you soon!
I have extensive experience as a volunteer teacher with a well-known volunteer organization. I have been married for over 30 years and have two adult children who are also teachers. I enjoy cycling and reading about history and current events. I also enjoy meeting people from around the world and learning about their culture. I currently work for a public school system in the state of Georgia driving a school bus, so I spend a lot of time around children and teachers. For me it's a real privilege to meet new people on Cambly and help them reach their English-learning goals.

I belive that learning a language should be enjoyable and interesting. It should never be boring or stressful. In my experience one of the best and most natural ways to learn a new language is to converse with native speakers. We can have relaxed, stress-free conversations on subjects that are of interest to you. Many students enjoy reading short news articles together and then discussing the content. Others like to look at photos and make sentences based on the photo. These simple exercises allow us to focus on new vocabulary words and pronunciation. They also can help students to improve their grammar and sentence structure. I am very flexible and we can personalize our conversations to meet your needs and interests. I can also help you prepare for job interviews or presentations. By using this natural and relaxed approach to learning I believe you will be able to improve your fluency and become a more confident Engish speaker. This method worked for me when I was learning to speak Spanish, and I believe it will work for you as well.
