I am semi-retired, I have been a Cambly tutor for over 4 years and I have tutored 2000+ Cambly students. In addition I taught English in Japan for 10 years. I tutor HIGH INTERMEDIATE, ADVANCED & PROFICIENT ADULTS - SORRY NOT BEGINNERS OR CHILDREN. All of my regular students are from ISRAEL, UKRAINE ("Slava Ukraine!"), TAIWAN (ROC), JAPAN, S. KOREA, BRAZIL, FRANCE, ITALY and foreigners studying/living in USA, UK and EUROPE (e.g. Germany and Netherlands). I teach everyday/general conversational English + English for travel + aviation/airline English for career professionals in the travel and aviation/airline business. I am a UK citizen/resident but I have lived in the USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and Thailand and I have 25 years career/work experience in East Asia (Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines) so I am very familiar with Asian culture. I taught English in Japan for 10 years and I have traveled professionally to over 80 countries including most of North America, Europe, Africa and Asia. My accent is "mid-Atlantic" - a mix of American & British. I don't need a teaching certificate (these are for new/inexperienced teachers) because I was trained as an English teacher in Japan with 10 years classroom experience including teaching/training executives at top Japanese corporations including Sony, Honda, Nissan, Marubeni, National Panasonic and Japan Airlines. About 30% of my regular students are working in the travel/aviation/airline business and I have helped many flight attendants and trainee pilots/pilots to improve their English and practice airline interview questions. I also have advanced-level regular students who are interested in geopolitics, world news etc. ** Sorry but I am not interested in - and therefore not knowledgeable about - IT, 'technology', computers/computer science/data analysis/coding/Ai/chatgbt etc. If you are working in this industry I can teach you general/conversational English but if you are very interested in this subject and want to discuss this in class I suggest using other tutors :)

I have over 25 years experience in the international TRAVEL business and I have traveled to over 80 countries worldwide including living in the USA, Canada, Australia, UK, Thailand and Japan. I taught English in Japan for 10 years and I also have experience teaching English to FLIGHT ATTENDANTS/CABIN CREW. I have varied interests including world travel, current affairs/news/geopolitics, aviation/airlines, British & American music/culture/lifestyle/entertainment.

I use a mix of error correction + everyday conversation + a range of teaching materials (news, travel & culture, discussion topics) for UPPER INTERMEDIATE, ADVANCED & PROFICIENT ADULTS to learn a wide range of vocabulary from a variety of topics/subjects to suit their interest (students choose the topic/news article). I use www.engoo.com with about 90% of my regular students and also other materials e.g. BBC, CNN news articles according to students' interests/English level. I also correct grammar and pronunciation errors and help students with word choice and accuracy. Ideal/target student talking time in class would be at least 50% but more is better. ** PLEASE NOTE** : I teach GENERAL/CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH so if you want to learn business English or technical English subjects such as IT/computers/AI/fchatgbt/financial/medical/accounting/tax/law etc I am NOT the right tutor for you because this is not my career expertise or interest. My work/career experience is INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL. Also, I believe that studying a language should be FUN so I tend to match better with fun/talkative/chatty students who have a sense of humor. I match less well with very serious, quiet, introverted "dry" students :)
