Build better relationships and eliminate awkwardness by improving your everyday interactions in English
conversation between two people

Our courses are two-way conversations

We believe in active engagement as the most effective teaching method. That's why you will have a voice in shaping your course according to your own goals.

Why take this course?

This course focuses on the skills you need to speak more smoothly in your everyday social life.

What you will learn

This course goes far beyond anything you’ve ever learned in a textbook to teach you a wide variety of strategies for opening a conversation, making effective small talk, and bringing the conversation to a close in a way that feels natural to native speakers of English. You’ll practice using tone of voice and facial expressions to improve your communication skills. You’ll also learn how to gauge what language is most appropriate to accomplish your conversational goals based on who you’re speaking to, where you are, how much time you have for a conversation, and more. In addition, there are also many opportunities to learn from your tutor’s experiences and advice based on their age, gender, country of origin, and personality–and for your tutor to give you individualized feedback on what linguistic choices might be the best fit for you in various social situations. Each lesson includes pre-lesson slides with the vocabulary you need for that lesson. These are often more advanced words that are used to describe language and interaction, and they are important for completing the activities in the lesson. Therefore, we highly recommend that you get familiar with these terms before you start the lesson with your tutor. You can access the pre-lesson slides though the course page.
