Hello!
Hello! My name is Teacher Indie. Welcome to my classroom. Welcome to Cambly! I have been teaching students of all ages to speak English for six years. Now I would like to teach you. In my classroom, I use many kinds of props and techniques to help you understand new words, grammar rules, and proper pronunciation. My aim as your teacher will be to help you be the best English speaker possible. My hope is that, when you speak, people will think you have lived in an English speaking country for many years. I hope to make your lessons fun and informative while learning at Cambly.
I have lived on the East coast of the Southern United States all of my life. I currently reside on an island off of Savannah GA. In my early college years (1980s), I took an interest in computers. I had a knack for learning them quickly and was often asked by my professors to help them learn to perform different functions to teach to students and eventually was asked to assist in classes. In the work field, I performed dictation and filed insurance for several doctors (80s-90s). After this, I spent many years working in a financial office. During my time there, I taught myself many computer programs and often found myself teaching others. After going back to college to finish my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (1996), I chose to volunteer with Literacy Volunteers of the Lowcountry as a way to make a contribution to my community. I found that I loved helping and teaching people. I taught a variety of people with different levels of education and from many different backgrounds. I taught people with learning disabilities who had never learned to read. I taught adults to hone their basic life skills, such as budgeting and home finance. I taught English to Spanish speaking people. I helped a well-established businessman learn calculus so he could finally complete his degree. I cannot describe the sense of satisfaction when you realize you have helped a person achieve a dream. I am currently employed by two ESL companies and teach Chinese children to speak English online. I love it and my students and parents love me! I have been teaching English online for five years. With the new education regulations in China, I thought it would be a good time to expand upon my teaching skills. While my degree was never in teaching, I have found myself teaching throughout my life. I love teaching and I feel I have a lot to offer any willing learner.

I incorporate the use of many props in my classroom. I always attempt to tailor my lessons to accommodate a variety of students from different ages and cultures. I am very aware of my student's strengths and weaknesses, focusing on tackling their weaknesses while further developing their strengths.
