My name is Maggie. I am a proud mom of two young men. I have been teaching and facilitating in my community for over 35 years. I have been with Cambly since February 2020. My teaching style is to facilitate self-learning, self correcting and to help students develop critical thinking skills in English. I speak Spanish fluently because both my parents were born and raised in Spain! My favourite hobby is Tennis. I play tennis 3-4 times a week - year round! Hi there! I love working with both young children and adults. My teaching style is light and fun but I do require that my students, regardless of age be engaged and motivated to learn. My teaching methodology is based on the 70% student output model. The goal for the lower level students is 50% teacher input and 50% student output. The goal for the higher level students is 30% teacher input and 70% student output. This may not be the learning style for everyone but Cambly has a variety of tutors/teachers that should be able to meet your learning needs and goals. My teaching style does not correct mistakes when the student is sounding out words, reading or speaking. I discuss the mistakes with the student after he/she is done talking and never during. I do expect all my students to do most of the talking and reading - regardless of errors. I use a lot of TPR when teaching. Total Physical Response (TPR) is a language teaching method built around the coordination of speech and action. TPR is used to teach language through physical (motor) activity. TPR combines movement and language together. It is used by both the teacher and the student to increase learning during class time. The student connects the actions to language. I also have a great collection of realia (real life items) to assist in learning. ***Please note that I have exclusive high speed internet.
