Hello!

Hi, I'm Lindsey and I am an English tutor from the United States. I can help with conversational skills, improving pronunciation, intonation, and assisting with job interview preparation. I also find students enjoy deep, thought-provoking lessons to help them become more fluent in giving their thoughts and opinions. Nothing is more frustrating than being passionate or knowledgeable about something and not being able to communicate it the way you want. I love helping my students develop their language skills and gain confidence in their abilities. Whether you're looking to improve your English for personal or professional reasons, I would love the opportunity to help you achieve your goals.

I have three kids and am currently homeschooling my youngest child. I also have taught many classes in-person to large groups of people and I understand how learning something new can be challenging and that it's important we make it fun and exciting. I think people understand something better when they have a fun time learning it. I enjoy reading novels, too much tv, and spending time outdoors with my family. I am also a health coach and enjoy weightlifting in my free time. I love sharing my knowledge and experience with others about health and fitness.

Specialties

Teaching Style

My teaching style is focused on creating a comfortable and engaging environment for my students to practice their conversational skills. I believe that conversing on topics that are of interest to my students, such as travel, cuisine, idioms, health, hobbies, sports, business, evolution, artificial intelligence, American Culture, work/life balance, leadership, and career goals, is a great way to build confidence and improve fluency. In addition to conversation practice, I have several lessons I created on my own to help students work on expressing their opinions and ideas with questions like "Are we defined by our choices or by external factors beyond our control?" I also encourage my students to practice the way they learn best, whether they prefer to read aloud, learn new vocabulary, have a structured lesson, or just have a regular chat. I know your time is valuable and it takes a lot to learn a new language so I want you to feel comfortable and enjoy that time. I have created a conversation vault with almost 200 questions on a variety of topics to get deeper discussions started. Lessons like this will help you improve discussing ideas and opinions on things you feel strongly about and build your confidence when speaking English. I also have a few lessons I created about engaging topics like American Culture, philosophy, business leadership, debate topics, and some fun tongue twisters. When booking a lesson with me, inform me of topics that interest you and I will try my best to find a suitable lesson if I don't already have one. One area that I place a particular emphasis on is pronunciation. We will work together to identify areas where you may be struggling and practice words that sound similar or phrases with certain words that can be challenging for non-native speakers. By focusing on specific areas for improvement, we can work together to help you improve your overall fluency and confidence in speaking English.
