Rebecca M Geddes

Profession: ESL Teacher

Teaching Experience: In 2016, I taught in the state of Puebla, Mexico on a spring contract. I was teaching with a wide range of ages from age 4 to 60 using many mediums for different types of learners.
Whilst leaving in Mexico, I also had the opportunity to teach private lessons at the home of my host.
Once Mexico's contracted was completed, I then took on another contract as an ESL teacher in late 2016 in North of Spain, working in a private academy.
This full academic year brought me many rewards whilst having classes with mainly adults and teenagers. It introduced to the platform of Trinity based exams and even Cambridge having to prepare each individual student as a group, or on a one on one basis. I have gained experience working with individual students, in teams, preparing presentations, activities, games and even curricular exams.

Interests: Art (Fine Art) is something I enjoy greatly, from drawing to painting I participate in projects every now and then.
Creative writing. In my own time, I love to discuss and debate certain topics by creating blogs. I have some example links if you'd like to view them.
Other interests of mine are Languages, culture and history. I spend a lot of time listening to Spanish and I take some time to practice this to myself.
I am very keen learning the history and culture of India as it has a vast line of ancient events especially as I was living there for 4 months, last year.

Education: I studied Art & Design for 2 years in the home of Shakespeare, at Stratford-Upon-Avon College. At the end of my course, I achieved a D*D*M (Distinction, Distinction, Merit) result. This course allowed me to open up creatively to all kinds of platforms.
After this, I took a 140 TEFL course with and successfully passed on January 05 2015.
The majority of this course was online, giving me online projects, and lesson plans to complete. Meanwhile, I achieved the practical side of teaching completing part of this course in classroom, of 20 hours. I developed and demonstrated skills which now qualifies me to teach privately, or online through video or phone calls, to teach in large groups to small, to older groups to young. It seems this course taught me ways of being versatile when it comes to teaching.
