Profession: High School Substitute Teacher
Expérience d'enseignement: My first ever experience teaching was in Germany to 1st graders. I was introduced to the opportunity by my Italian professor at the time and it is still one of my best memories from my time living in Heidelberg.
I taught English in Japan for 2.5 years in Hyogo and Mie Prefecture. Through the JET Program I volunteered at local kindergartens and preschools for special events in addition to my normal work load at 3 high schools on Awaji Island. I also taught kindergarten, elementary school, middle school, and adult classes for bit in Asahi, Mie.
Finally, I have also taught undergraduate courses at university for beginning German courses.
Intérêts: I have so many interests. I really like doing stuff outdoors like cycling and hiking. I recently became a father so taking my son for walks to the park is also really fun. Cooking is another passion of mine. I like baking and grilling the most. It is great to try and find new ingredients and recipes. Lastly, I enjoy playing strategy board games. My favorite board game is called Flash Point.
Éducation: I went to school at Carthage College and graduated in 2007. Thanks to my great professors I was able study abroad twice. I spent Fall 2005 in Hiroshima University, Japan and Spring/Summer semester 2006 in Heidelberg, Germany. I attained my CTESOL after my time teaching in Japan because I wanted to continue learning how to be a better teacher. To continue my education, I attended graduate level courses in German Literature and Culture at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
