Profession: University professor of Biology
Expérience d'enseignement: I am a faculty lecturer at the University of Illinois and have been for over 20 years.
My students say I am friendly, approachable, knowledgeable and funny. I teach both face-to-face and online.
My area of expertise is biology (especially cell biology, medicine, and bioengineering) but I can cheerfully converse on many topics.
As a mother of four, I have extensive experience interacting with children.
I have been involved in many science outreach projects for both young and old in the general public.
Intérêts: I love science, space exploration topics, animals of all kinds, world traveling, using social media, and sewing.
I also read A LOT. My favorite books are usually non-fiction.
I have traveled extensively across the United States and the world, including Japan, Canada, Costa Rica, India, most of western Europe and the UAE. My father was in the United States Air Force and the most interesting place we lived when I was young was the tiny Pacific island of Guam.
I studied French for many years and like many people visiting Cambly for English, I can understand French better than I can speak it. :-)
I also studied Japanese for several years in college, but since I have not needed to speak it, I have forgotten most of the language.
I am on Cambly a few hours everyday so you have the chance to practice your skills to become fluent and to retain your skills. I can help you with pronunciation and expanding your vocabulary.
Éducation: I have advanced degrees in biology, with a focus on cell and structural biology.
I am also certified as a Master of Online Teaching from the Illinois Online Network.
Langues parlées: anglais (Maternel), français (Bases), japonais (Bases)
