Profession: International Volunteering Operations Manager
Teaching Experience: I first tried teaching English as a foreign language when I was on an international development programme in Tanzania with Raleigh ICS, working on a health and sanitation project in the rural village of Mgongo. I continued gaining experience in Sri Lanka, where I taught voluntarily at the National Youth Council whilst on my psychology and mental health placement. I then worked at a centre for children with special needs in Hanoi, developing an interactive English workshop with them to learn basic words and phrases. Alongside previous experiences travelling around Asia, this inspired me to gain a qualification as an EFL teacher.
Since qualifying, I spent two months teaching a range of age groups in Hanoi, Vietnam at four language centres - Educap, CleverLearn, Espeed and an International Montessori School. The approach focused on conversational English, using functional language as a key to useful and interactive learning.
